Meet Brian Harkins

Brian Harkins is seeking to serve as West Monroe City Court Judge because West

Monroe deserves a judge who is experienced, prepared, fair, and devoted to public

service.

The decisions made in City Court affect people, families, businesses, and the broader

community every day. Meeting that responsibility takes more than good intentions—it

requires courtroom experience, thorough preparation, sound judgment, and respect for

every person who comes before the court.

Throughout his legal career, Brian has served as a prosecutor, magistrate, attorney, and

educator. Each role has strengthened the qualities he would bring to the bench: a

command of the law, a willingness to listen, the ability to weigh the facts impartially, and

the resolve to decide each matter with fairness and professionalism.

As a prosecutor, Brian learned the importance of preparation, accountability, public

safety, and the fair pursuit of justice. As a magistrate, he gained hands-on experience

presiding over a courtroom, listening carefully to the people before him, and approaching

each decision with fairness and impartiality. In private practice, he has helped individuals

and families navigate consequential legal matters, giving him a firsthand understanding

of how deeply the court system can affect people’s lives. His work as an educator further

reflects his commitment to patience, preparation, and clear communication.

Brian believes West Monroe City Court should be guided by three principles:

accessibility, respect, and efficiency. Victims, defendants, witnesses, attorneys,

business owners, and concerned citizens should all be treated with dignity, fairness, and

courtesy.

Brian Harkins is ready to put his courtroom experience, strong work ethic, and record of

service to work for the people of West Monroe as City Court Judge.
